About 500 million people -- one in 12 worldwide -- are living with chronic viral hepatitis B or C. In Canada, it is estimated that 600,000 people are infected and many don’t know it.
Under the global umbrella “Am I Number 12” campaign, this year’s World Hepatitis Day theme “This is hepatitis…” aims to tell the human story of viral hepatitis and continue the battle of raising awareness of hepatitis B and C around the world.
We are encouraging groups to get together and organize local World Hepatitis Day events to raise awareness about hepatitis B and C. Click here for our 2010 Call for Proposals and Event Proposal Form where you can get all the details about how to submit your event proposal. Once your proposal is reviewed and accepted by our review committee, we’ll send you World Hepatitis Day promotional items to distribute at your event (bracelets, postcards, etc.) and give you access to a toolkit of electronic resources that will help you promote World Hepatitis Day.
Last year, we received such interesting and creative posters from youth, adults, and participants from Correctional Services Canada that we’ve decided to organize a National Poster Competition this year too.
